Why does Tom Barnes have a 39
after his name?
Toms answer for that is...
Since there are lots of Tom Barnes's and I wasn't the
first online I had to pick a number. I didn't want
just any number, I wanted something people could
relate to and remember. I took 39 because it makes me
laugh -- it reminds me of the old Jack Benny joke.
Highly polished scripts kept hammering away
on Benny’s portrayal of himself as a stingy and
vain man, concerned about his receding hairline
and adamant that he was no older than 39.
Jack Benny got laughs of recognition for
perpetually claiming to be 39. At the time, 40 was
over-the-hill.
